i bought on black friday 2019, the sound kept going off. i returned/exchanged for a new one in feb, 2020. worked for awhile and now it is doing the same thing again. im passed return time, so contacted samsung, went through the process & still waiting for them to do something about it. i would think 6 months from a major purchase they would stand behind their product. we shall see!

I am only glad of one thing, I didn't pay a dime for this tv. If I did, I would be very upset. However, I did buy a $1000 phone and this was "free", for purchasing. So technically I did pay. @$£%. Man, I hate when that happens. It's simple. I should have looked here before the year warranty was up to read that almost everyone complains about the sometimes on sometimes off audio. I would just plug and unplug everything and it would somehow start working. Then a few months ago, it started just not coming on. I tried everything. Power save off, system reset, etc. Finally, I pulled the plug. I wanted to take it outside and shoot it and put it out of my misery. However, I decided to plug in back in....and.... Voila! It works. Every day, every stinkin day, I gotta pull the plug to get it to work. There is a relay that clicks when I wiggle the cord. So I guess I know why they were "free". I just don't know how much longer I can stand it. I may have to give it away. At least I am proud to say I have never "bought" a Samsung. Every friend I have that bought one has been unhappy. They had to cut their losses and buy any other brand, even no-name brands. They have had success with all their others. Why do you have a reputation that doesn't match the quality, or lack thereof, of your TVs? Tech support, do you have any real responses except the preloaded ones you put in response to some of these reviews? I would love to read a real response.

Was Great at first...

When I first purchased the TV, I was very happy with it. No issues setting it up and using the Smart Features. Not a bad TV at all... But then a Black Bar has appeared on the Right Hand side of the screen. I have been reading a lot of other Samsung TV owners are having the same issues and nothing is being done about it. Very Disappointed with this purchase!

i bought the tv on black friday 2018, besides the tv power button getting stuck inside the tv early on it was a good budget tv overall. that all ended 3 days ago when the left side of the tv began to flicker on and off randomly and eventually stayed very dark(the left 40% of the tv screen). ive tried all recommended troubleshooting to no avail, the screen remains black when the picture test is ran, if i had to guess it appears the black lights have gone out very unexpectedly with normal use and no damage to the tv whatsoever. i understand its a budget tv but this is ridiculous. im waiting to hear back from Samsung regarding the issue and im hoping that at the very least ill be able to repair the tv at a discounted price due to this being a fairly coon problem from what I've read. i bought a samsung (also my first nice tv) specifically because they were supposed to be the "best" but ive been extremely disappointed and at this time would NOT recommend this tv to anyone.

It's okay can't complain for the price

I got this tv because my crazy gf threw my LG down and crack the back of my LG tv surpringsly it still works it's a not a 4K tv but it was LG top of the line full hd tv at the time. This one however has ok performance, good blacks in dark rooms, the tv feels cheap and the sound is mediocre. I got it on sale for 290 at Best Buy. The color washes out at side viewing angles. 4K content is pretty good and some HDR looks a bit overwhelming. By reading everyone's comments I've only had this tv for a week. I hope I don't get the sound issues, WiFi not connecting or flickering screen or just simply dying. Crossing fingers

I am so disappointed I spent money on this TV.. I am usually really good at researching and looking at reviews before making a purchase but I was in a bit of a hurry and on the surface this one seemed to be good quality for the price. Oh how wrong and naive I was. I had to look back at my emails to confirm when I received this TV, delivered 1/31/2020 and today is 4/20/2020 so.. about two months later, and it no longer works. Since day one I noticed the TV was INCREDIBLY slow. I mean really really really slow to do anything; access settings, return home, load apps, change a channel, just everything is PAINFULLY slow. I was excited that I was gonna be able to use airplay with the TV but that works about 2/10 times and is also unbelievably glitchy. Might as well just not even bother. I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in an electronic, to be honest. The quality of the picture is good but the settings are trash. You either get an incredibly dark picture or super exposed. No in between. I just put in a service request as my TV won't turn on anymore.. Hopefully it can be fixed for the time being while I look into buying a new TV as I can't see myself getting headaches because of this TV in the longterm.

Hard to believe any electronic device these days comes without Bluetooth, but this one doesn't. No AUX port on the TV so you can't plug in a Bluetooth adapter. Sound is harsh and settings do not help.

Great Sound and picture!

I'm reading throught the reviews and I see a lot of problems people have with this TV and I have not experienced not one of them. This is the nicest TV I have ever had. I bought mine at Walmart and works great! If your having issues with the sound you should look at what your sttings are set on. I noticed the Standard sound setting on this TV makes the it very quiet and very loud at times. I changed the setting for that to optimized and it now works to my liking. If you have a problem with your TV, CHECK YOUR SETTINGS! It is an important step in making sure your TV is how YOU want it. If you do all the settings and you still dont like it, return it and buy one that you will like.

I received this TV as a Christmas gift. It replaced a 15 year old VIZIO tv. Boy, how I miss my VIZIO tv. I thought I was getting a quality product but sadly Samsung has let me down. I have issues with the sound. It drives me insane when I go to another room and can only hear crinkling noises. The sound also shuts off and I have to change the channel for it to come back on. I purchased a sound bar for it, but in order for you to control it with one remote, it needs an hdmi cable to connect. Returning the sound bar as the 2 hdmi ports are already taken. i'm stuck with this tv. thanks samsung!

Sound Keeps Going Out

What is up with Samsung? They used to make QUALITY products. I am very disappointed in this. I purchased this TV in September 2019. My 1st one was damaged so I immediately did an in-store return and now this sound issue. The sound will pulse and then go out. If you turn the channel it will come back but that does not always last. The speaker are not good quality either. You literally have to have the sound blasted or purchase a sound bar. Also had issues for a while with turning it on. I would have to unplug and plug back in as if I had to reboot it or something. I have not had issues with the power lately so I am assuming that corrected itself. And based on the reviews, it appears I am not the only one having issues. This SUCKS!

Awful TV!

Two months after purchasing this TV, the sound kept muting and the only way to get it back was to turn the TV off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on. A tech came, replaced the board and it was fine until last week. THE SOUND ISSUE IS BACK!!! Another tech is coming to "check" the issue in a few days. Needless to say, I will NEVER purchase another Samsung TV again.

Sound goes off intermittently

I now own 4 Samsung tv's (2 40" and 2 50"). I thought the sound issue was only a problem on the 50" sets but now one of my 40" sets is going silent for short periods. When I called Samsung they suggested the problem could be a remote issue and said I should use the Samsung remote to turn tv on (I have Xfinity remotes for all tv's). That makes no difference at all. It seems like I am not alone with this problem and hope Samsung can figure out a fix. In the meantime I will refrain from purchasing any more Samsung tvs.

I got this during the lead up to Christmas 2019 and it was on sale. I'm glad I got it for the discount price, frankly. While I think it is worth what I paid, it's a very close thing. If I had paid full price, I would be seriously disappointed. As it is, I'm still disappointed, but I can limp along till something superior comes along and I replace it. It's slow. If I pull up the guide, the screen freezes as the guild downloads to memory, if I scroll to another page, it freezes again while that page downloads. Why this TV doesn't download guide data in the background baffles me. I hate having to interrupt viewing to see the guide. Another aspect of slow is trying to switch apps. The screen is noticeably lagging as I press buttons on the remote, frequently it'll be at least two clicks behind, so that I have learned to wait till the active cursor settles before confirming, or I'll end up in the wrong app. Really poor performance, there. Another thing is lack of apps. I like Comedy Central, they have had apps for years. Every gaming console I've ever used had a CC app, and this TV doesn't Also, the new Service DC Universe, it's only 2 years old (launched in 2018) but it is one I subscribe to, but I can't view it natively on the TV because they don't have that app. And the last bad point, it's a rather big one, because of that lack of apps problem. If I try to watch the service on my phone or tablet, and try to cast it to the tv, it REALLY breaks down. The Apple TV app will only connect 20% of the time, and it'll lose connection most of the time. The native connect to Samsung just doesn't work, period. If I had a Samsung phone, maybe, but it is supposed to work with non Samsung phones, too, yet it does not.

I have had this TV for maybe one year. A couple of months ago, I began having problems getting it to turn on. I replaced the batteries in the remote. Didn't help. I have pressed the reset button numerous times. Hasn't helped. If you have lots of patience, this is the TV for you. Me? I'm selling it if I can get somebody to give me $50 for it.

Good picture but SLOW

Incredibly slow GUI (Worse than my 4yo Samsung smart TV...) and when it's been off for a while, SLOW to turn on. "Cold starts" are met with... nothing. The first hit of power button (remote or on TV) does nothing other than flash the little LED letting you know it received the signal, but screen stays off. I then have to wait a few seconds and it will usually work the second time. It's like the first hit just primes the TV to turn as if it's asking me "Are you sure you want to turn it on?" Software is up to date and hasn't helped in the past year of ownership. I wonder if I can still return it to Costco.

Great Tv But Sound Issues

Is anyone else experiencing sound/picture fading in and out issues. I am getting this a lot with my surround sound on and without it on. What is the problem and what is the fix for it?

Don't buy this TV if you use a wireless connection

I bought this model based upon the recommendations I read online. We had buffering problems with the TV from the beginning. We finally bought a Netgear wireless extender thinking that would solve the problem. At first, it didn't. I worked with a Netgear tech assistant who suggested that we use the 5 ghz signal. We tried but the TV couldn't see the 5 ghz signal. It was then that I learned that this model only has a 2.4 ghz card and therefore can't receive the 5 ghz signal. We ended up having to use a wired connection from the Netgear extender so that the TV receives a 5 ghz signal from the router. I don't know how much Samsung saved by not installing a card that could receive both signals but it soured me on their brand. If I hadn't thrown away the box, I would have returned this to the store.

1. it does not suport 5GHZ 2. when its turned off, and you turn it back on it either does not recobnnect at all or you have to wait between 4 to 10 minutes for it to find its DNS 3. tried all the DNS samsung provided (8888 and 8844) and it just does not worj

One star is too high. My 50" Samsung has a reboot problem. Laptops and Cell phones used within 100 feet of the TV causes it to reboot. The TV also reboots frequently without laptops or cell phone use. This started straight out of the box. Samsung blames it on poor internet connection from wifi. But it reboots regardless if wifi is connected or disconnected so it is not happening because of wifi.

Overall a good Smart UHD TV, given how inexpesive it is. I was impressed with the sound quality of the speakers. And the picture quality is also good. What I found dissapointing about it is that IT DOES NOT COME WITH SEVERAL OF THE APPS SHOWED IN ITS PACKAGING BOX, I felt misleaded about that, and there's is no way to install them even if you search for them on the TV's App Search.

Alright I will try to keep this short, here it goes. -Bought this for $280 on Black Friday week. I used the student discount program from Samsung's website (you just need a ".edu" email address. I am actually a teacher not a student). This TV was quite a steal. Biggest complaint is shipping. TV was on back order. Ended up taking about 3 weeks to get the TV. Samsung uses a third part company (AGS) to handle their shipping. Spent a lot of time on the phone with them trying to figure out the status or location of my order. Best Buy had the same TV for $330 and I am not sure if the savings was worth the hassle. I could have bought it at Best Buy and taken it home the same day. Future buyers from Samsung.com beware. -Picture quality is awesome. Some reviewers aren't impressed, I am. I am stepping up from a 10 year old Sony 1080p TV. This Samsung looks great. Gets plenty bright for me. Picture is smooth and has settings to make it less or more smooth. I use it with my Sony STR-DH590 AV Receiver and my Xbox One S. I watch Netflix, Hulu, play Battlefield V, and watch Blu-Rays. I did have some trouble getting full 4K at 60Hz and HDR to work with the Xbox. Tried everything and swapped the HDMI cable as a final result and bingo, that was the problem. So even though it may not seem like the cause, don't rule out HDMI cable if you're having problems. Also, keep in mind the TV ships with HDR OFF. Find the "UHD Color" setting and turn it on for the HDMI port(s) you need. One last note with picture quality:the viewing angle is pretty narrow. Depending on what you are watching, colors quickly fade from the screen as you view the TV off center. -TV is a little lacking in ports. This doesn't effect me that much as I do not have many devices to connect. Even if I did, everything I use connects to my AV Receiver first, then one HDMI cable goes from the receiver to the TV. I would like another USB and headphone jack but I don't REALLY need them. -I only tested the TV speakers briefly and they seem pretty mediocre. However, I use an external speaker setup so this does not effect me but may effect others. Also, keep in mind I believe sound output from the optical port is fixed and not variable. You can google that but it means if you plug speakers/soundbar into optical port, TV remote will not control volume of said speakers/soundbar. -I cannot comment much on the smart features of this TV as I do not use them. I primarily use my Xbox for streaming apps which works like a dream. However, I have noticed that going through the settings menu can be a little sluggish so I image it would be somewhat slow using the smart interface. TV has some good settings but perhaps lacks some more advanced features (like judder stuff). Depending on the exact model you get, wireless may also only be "n" not "ac" ("ac" is faster). -Design of the TV is good. It is super light (30ish pounds), about a third the weight of my old TV. Super thin as well. Keep in mind the TV has two feet that sit toward the edge of the TV, needing a wide stand for the TV. The feet are also short, so you will probably have trouble putting a center speaker or soundbar in front of the TV. The bezel is nice and thin. This TV looks sharp even with the image off. Overall I am very pleased. This is one of the best, if not the best, TV at this price range for 2018. One of the biggest tests for me will be how it stands up over time. But so far, I believe this TV has met all my expectations.

Useless WiFi makes this a really dumb TV

Every morning, the network or the router needs to be rebooted in order to get a connection. Now, the wireless card seems to be failing after about a month. Still can see menus but it's too slow to play any video. Don't get this junk. You'll be turned off Samsung forever.

Best bang for your buck

I wanna start off by saying I'm not an expert in this field just a regular Joe. I bought this Tv during Black Friday at best buy they price was $329...i got the price lowered due to the box being damage so $279. Let me say once I turned it on it blew me away the clarity and sound is top notch. Streaming YouTube videos and the other pre-installed apps were smooth and quick. The colors were rich and vibrant. The 120 htz motion rate made for silky smooth movements on screen. The sound adds another layer of depth to give you that true home theater feel. To think this is just right out The box i didn't have to adjust anything. The remote may take a lil getting use to but you can also control things from your phone with the Samsung app. All and all Samsung did a great job with this Tv def recommend picking this one up

Full of bloatware

I returned this piece of junk and don't recommend it to anyone. This is why I don't by Samsung products. Samsung fill there phones with blaotware and now they fill TV's with unremovable blaotware. How dare you force your junk on me! When I pay for a TV that means it's my property and I should be able to do and watch what I see fit. Never again.

DirecTV Now application is garbage. Not fault of TV but fault of Samsung group responsible for keeping apps up-to-date and error free. The DirecTV Now application on Amazon Fire is far superior. Remote control technology on this is garbage. Remote has to be pointed directly at TV whereas Amazon Fire remote can be pointed 180° away from TV where Amazon Fire box is located and works fine and behind walls.

Great picture, sound, lacks app compatibility

I bought this TV about a month ago and have enjoyed it for sure! However, I started paying for the new Hulu Live, which requires the "new Hulu experience." Hulu has said on their website that Samsung TV's that are 2017 or later are compatible, but this TV is not listed on the giant list of models for whatever reason. I would really like to see this change ASAP, because I am even getting ads on the TV for Hulu Live! And when I go to the info on the version of Hulu currently installed, it says it is the latest version and even has screenshots of the new Hulu app. It is very frustrating. Also, upon trying to find more information on the TV on Samsung's support site, I found virtually nothing, which concerns me. It's almost like this TV is in limbo as far as Hulu AND Samsung is concerned. But the TV itself is great, picture perfect and the sound is pretty impressive honestly, definitely worth the money I paid, and my roommate and I use it constantly. Just hope that Hulu compatibility improves as soon as possible!!
